The police stopped a notorious blockchain conference held in Shanghai. The cops crashed the Global Fintech & Blockchain China Summit 2018 which was organized by the conference organizers PTP during the morning session.
According to the local news, all the attendees were evicted from the venue while the police announced them that the afternoon session will also be canceled.
The conference had almost 1000 attendees with key figures from the blockchain industry. Besides initial coin offering presentations at the meeting were present financial institutions and cryptocurrency projects backed by the government.
While the organizers did not provide any information on the reason why the authorities halted the event, the rumors on the internet are suggesting that some investors reported the activity. All this because they have lost a lot of money during an ICO project which was present at the conference.
We are working on a solution regarding how to make up for event attendees. The conference is in compliance with the regulation in China and does not feature any ICO roadshow,” declared a spokesperson present at the event.
The organizers of the event indicated that the rumors are false and that the conference was not promoting illegal businesses.
“We are still investigating the reasons of the halt, and so far the explanation offered by the police is due to security risk.
With this new event, we are adding a new controversial conference in the agenda. Last week during Deconomy the co-founder of ethereum Vitalik Buterin stood up from the crowd and asked why is “this fraud is even allowed to speak at this conference” referring to Craig Wright.
While in February a notorious blockchain conference organized by Moe Levin, the CEO of Keynote was held in a strip club. At that time the organizers defended the choice by saying that the nude performances did not start only after the conference was over.
